Since 1994, Barbara has been teaching computer classes (from beginners to advanced levels) in courses organized by several public institutions, by the Italian Blind Union and by the Institution for Research, Education, and Rehabilitation (I.Ri.Fo.R.); this courses are mainly directed to vision impaired people and learning support teachers. Recently, she also gained experience in teaching accessibility and assistive technologies in courses for teachers organised by the University of Pisa.

Barbara has been evaluated accessibility and usability of various institutional web sites and she has been provided a consulting service on accessibility to, for instance, the "INFOGROUP SpA - Informatica e Servizi Telematici" for the creation of two multimedia CDs for the follow-up of blind employees.
Since 2003 she has been working as accessibility expert on the revision of some Institutional web sites and, with different official groups, on the definition of the technical roles for the accessibility of computer systems, according to the ministerial decree referred to the law n�4, 01/09/2004.

Since 2004 she has been collaborating as revisor for several international conferences and journals.

Among other activities, Barbara is part of the Tuscan Council of the Italian Blind Union and, within the same Union, she has been held several roles, such as the "president" from 2010 to 2015.

Moreover, as expert of usability and accessibility, Barbara has been included in the Technical-scientific secretariat of the inter-ministerial commission that promotes the use the communication and information technology by disabled people.
